Program Description:

The training program at the University of Minnesota and affiliated hospitals places a strong emphasis on the fundamentals of laboratory medicine and clinical interactions. Training involves the areas of clinical service, management, information services, teaching and research. Emphasis is placed on combining the consultative aspects of clinical chemistry and toxicology with applied and basic research experience. The program is organized to allow educational experiences in three laboratories—the University, VA Medical Center, and Hennepin County Medical Center—that include two separate Laboratory Medicine and Pathology Residency programs. The training will prepare the candidate for a career in hospital or academic laboratory medicine or industry. The integrated research experience will be arranged in the laboratories of the participating faculty.
